celtic crafts, bracelets & leather products!
The art of the Celts of the British Isles from approximately the 6th to the 9th centuries
comprises highly stylised representations of hunting dogs serpents and birds as well as
knotwork interlacings and spirals.
The scale of the original drawings was minute as in some illustrations in the book of Kells.
It requires a magnifying glass to appreciate the detail.
An excellent introduction to the art is the book "Methods of Construction" by George Bain.
Beltane Designs has reproduced and re drawn many of these designs and applied them to
their metalwork and leatherwork.
